Our Pastor

00pp.jpg

Reverend Mallery Callahan II, First Lady Kenya Barney Callahan, and Marlo and Mallery (Trey) Callahan III

Pastor Mallery Callahan, II surrendered his will to the Lord and accepted the call to ministry in 2003. He fervently believes his preaching is Spirit led and takes to heart Luke 4:18, which says:

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

The blessed arrival of Mallery Callahan, II into the family of Dr. Mallery Callahan, Sr. and Sister Geraldine Collins Callahan occurred on April 5, 1983.  He is the fourth of five children born to this union. Mallery II has three older sisters: Rochelle Bickham, Shawn and Dawn Callahan, and one younger brother Matthew Callahan. He married the former Kenya Barney in October 2011. In March 2013, God blessed them with one precious daughter, Marlo; and in October 2015, a much-anticipated son, Mallery III (Trey) arrived.

This 2001 high school graduate of the prestigious Saint Paul’s School in Covington, Louisiana found athletic passion on the football field and academic passion off the field. He was captain of the football team and an honor student. He was also chosen to the All-State football team and respected for many other impressive accomplishments.

After high school, he matriculated at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana where a Bachelor of Sociology degree was bestowed upon him in the year of 2006.  Rev. Mallery II received a Master’s Degree in Divinity from The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2012.

Rev. Mallery II became the Pastor of the First Free Mission Baptist Church in Mandeville, Louisiana in November 2012.  Under his current leadership, the church has experienced tremendous growth.

On Sunday, September 2, 2018, he was installed as the 5th Pastor of the Greater Starlight Baptist Church in Covington, Louisiana.

Pastor Mallery II was also installed as the Pastor of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville, Louisiana in February 2019. Since April 2013, the inmates at the St. Tammany jail knew him as “Chaplain.” He served the spiritual needs of those incarcerated who wanted help. After prayerful consideration, in April 2020, Pastor Mallery II decided to leave his positions of Chaplain and Re-entry Director at the St. Tammany Parish Jail and focus on being a full-time Pastor.

Willingly and with all his heart, Pastor Mallery Callahan, II does whatever God calls him to do.  His biological family, his church family, as well as everyone who has the privilege to know him loves him. God has poured His anointing on him to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
